UEFA Champions League Draw

It doesn’t seem all that long ago since we had the joys of beating Roma 7-1 last season followed by the heart break of defeat in Milan but the draw has been made for this seasons Champions League which looks like being a fantastic group.

Manchester United have been drawn in Group F which also features Roma, Sporting Lisbon and Dynamo Kiev.

United met Roma in the Quarter finals of last seasons Champions League which was marred by trouble in Rome but the player on the pitch did us proud and thrashed the Italian side 7-1 in the second leg at Old Trafford to setup a meeting with Milan.

Roma will certainly prove to be a test and I’m sure the players won’t be expecting another 7-1 result. I’m sure we’ll be satisfied with a win at home and a draw in Rome from this clash.

Sporting Lisbon should be an interesting game. Ronaldo and Nani will both be making a return to the club United brought them to Old Trafford from which should add an extra bit of spice to the two games. A win at Old Trafford is a must in this game whilst three points away from home certainly shouldn’t be beyond expectations but the game in Portugal will probably be more evenly balanced.

Kiev are a difficult side. At home, anything but three points would be a bad result but Russia is always a difficult and cold place to go. A point away from home would be a decent enough result.

There are certainly easier groups than the one United have been drawn in but we should certainly expect to get through to the second stages. If we can win all our home games and pick up a few draws away from home whilst the other sides take points off each other then we should safely be through to the second stages.
