I hate going to Anfield. Everything about it is grim. The boarded up houses by the ground, the smell of sewers by the away end, the screechy scouse accents and the crap ground when you get inside. The reason we go there is to win and get one over on them in their own back yard, so to lose yesterday was a real low in my season so far.
Bolton are always a tricky proposition, and I was slightly concerned that without Rooney and Vidic, and on the back of a 2-2 home draw and international break, our players might get caught out. This was always going to be the sort of game in which three points would be three points, no matter how scrappy or awkward, so ultimately we should all be glad the we came out ok. We have a huge week ahead, namely the travelling involved for the game in Moscow and the small matter of a grudge match at Anfailed, so going into it on the back of a reasonably decent performance without any serious injury concerns is all positive. If I am really honest, I expected an easy win at Old Trafford against Sunderland. Yes they have given us tough games before and almost held us to a draw last season, but overall their defence looks vulnerable (as seen last week) and United at home are generally very strong. So, 1-0 down at half time seemed a little strange, yet no one could claim it was undeserved. The away team easily had the better of the play and United looked dreadful, misplacing passes every few minutes and failing to create anything remotely worthy of testing Gordon. Read more
