We are all used to games being schedules at crazy times for television, but to play a game at 12pm without Sky even wanting to show it is just baffling. Usually local police want an alcohol ban, fans to get there as late as possible and to leave immediately after the game. But Blackburn, with few fans of their own, give United 7000 tickets and turn the fixture into a day of festivity, including erecting a marquee at the Fenhurst pub next to the ground. They also have the common sense to put Sky Sports on in the concourses and serve drink inside until half time, encouraging fans to arrive early and avoid the last minute stampide for kick off. The policies of Blackburn Football Club and the local police should be comended, and many other clubs across the land should follow their lead, which results in great days out with less trouble meaning happy days all around.
