Today’s news has come as a bit of a shock to a lot of Man Utd fans. Rossi has long been a favourite within the youth team and has been touted as the future of Manchester United even by Sir Alex Ferguson himself so it’s come as a bit of a surprise that the club have decided to sell him.
But, as I pointed out earlier this month in the Glazers Buy Now, Pay Later article, the free spending that has been happening this summer isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and anyone who actually believe that we are spending anywhere near £70m needs to look at the figures more closely. Read more
It is less than two weeks until United and Chelsea walk out the tunnel at Wembley to kick off the new season, and rarely have things been so focused on off the field activity. The press seem to have become Hollywood celebrity experts camping out in LA to catch a glimpse of a former Red, or polishing up their legal skills to report on sagas including those surrounding Heinze and Tevez. A dodgy Thai has moved in at City, Liverpool think money should be spent on even more over-rated Spanish strikers (as if Luis Garcia and Morientes were not enough), Leeds are embroiled in a row over tax dodging and loan repayments, Arsenal are losing players by the second and Chelsea are fighting to hang on to Robben whilst also bringing in some useful additions. Due to technical problems no fansviews appeared on the UO site in the season half of the season. So, as there were too many great moments to just bypass, I thought I might recap some of them here as a tribute to a wonderful season. Against all the odds United won the league and, with a bigger squad, may well have won the lot. They did so playing sensational, stylish football (take note Chelski) and scoring goals for fun.
