United have come a long way since losing at Craven Cottage. That day the team could have played all night and not scored, whereas now we can put away seven in two legs against AC Milan. But every Red who witnessed that terrible performance against Fulham last year wanted revenge, and there was no better time to do it than in the title run in, after Fulham had also had a knackering trip to Juventus. United 4 AC Milan 0

3-2 in the San Siro was enjoyable, but this was immense. United tore Milan to shreds in a cauldron of anti-Glazer protests, and sent two powerful messages to the rest of football; without Ronaldo we can still be successful and sell up Glazers, you are not wanted.

Wolves 0 United 1

As the season nears its end no game can be considered easy. Wolves have found some decent form of late and deserved something out of their game against Chelsea, and so hopes were not over confident about this game. Especially with no Rooney and no Fletcher, and with others clearly having half an eye on the Milan game. So, on reflection, getting three points was a fantastic result even if the performance was far from convincing. Read more

United 2 Villa 1

Let’s face it, the Carling Cup is our lowest priority at the start of the season and winning it does not rank that high on people’s agendas. But winning a trophy at Wembley is always great and doing it in a great game after being a goal down is extra special. The celebrations may have been slightly muted- certainly compared to a league title or European Cup- but it was a fantastic day out none-the-less. Read more

Everton 3 United 1

Confidence has been flying high at Old Trafford; the performance at Villa and the win in the San Siro epitomising a squad with belief and determination. Taking the lead in the sunshine at Goodison seemed to be a natural continuation of that, but from that moment onwards it was a nightmare day. Everton’s determination fully entitled them to beat us, and Chelsea’s unconvincing win at Wolves was a further kick in the teeth. This was potentially a significant day in the title race and one that puts United in a real position of disadvantage, and that makes the home games against Liverpool and Chelsea must win matches.
