Barcelona 2 united 0

With the league sown up we went off to Rome with high expectations. United are world beaters, can take on anyone on their day and fans flocked to Italy to see what promised to be a great spectacle. Unfortunately, as you all well know, things on the pitch did not go to plan but it was still a great trip and marked the end of what was still a fantastic season. Read more

Arsenal 1 United 3

“We’re on the march of Fergie’s army, and we’re NOT going to Wem-ber-ley, we are going to Rome instead, to dress the Pope in red, cos United are the greatest football team” was the cry before kick off in the Drayton Arms pub, in the shadow of the Emirates Stadium. Reds lined the pavement in the sunshine surrounded by police horses, confident of an away victory and of going to Italy later this month. United 1 Arsenal 0

There is something surreal about playing an English team in Europe and, standing in the Stretford End before kick off, it really did not feel like a Champions League fixture. United 2 Inter 0

I hate games like this and don’t look forward to them at all. If we win it is expected- afterall Inter were pretty poor in the San Siro- and if we went out it would be a terrible evening. Confidence seemed to be high in the United squad and everyone was pointing the the 0-0 in the Nou Camp last season, but many of us also remembered the 0-0 draw in Monaco. Read more

Inter Milan 0 United 0

Going to Italy to see United is always a mix of excitement and trepidation. A great match lay ahead anxd a wonderful stadium awaited but then there were also the policing concerns and the fear we would lose to a dodgy deflection in typical Mourinho fashion. As it turned out none of those fears came true- the away Reds were treated reasonably and the home team did not score- and United walked away from Milan with their heads held very high. Read more
