As the season nears its end no game can be considered easy. Wolves have found some decent form of late and deserved something out of their game against Chelsea, and so hopes were not over confident about this game. Especially with no Rooney and no Fletcher, and with others clearly having half an eye on the Milan game. So, on reflection, getting three points was a fantastic result even if the performance was far from convincing. Read more

Let’s face it, the Carling Cup is our lowest priority at the start of the season and winning it does not rank that high on people’s agendas. But winning a trophy at Wembley is always great and doing it in a great game after being a goal down is extra special. The celebrations may have been slightly muted- certainly compared to a league title or European Cup- but it was a fantastic day out none-the-less. Read more

Everton 3 United 1
Confidence has been flying high at Old Trafford; the performance at Villa and the win in the San Siro epitomising a squad with belief and determination. Taking the lead in the sunshine at Goodison seemed to be a natural continuation of that, but from that moment onwards it was a nightmare day. Everton’s determination fully entitled them to beat us, and Chelsea’s unconvincing win at Wolves was a further kick in the teeth. This was potentially a significant day in the title race and one that puts United in a real position of disadvantage, and that makes the home games against Liverpool and Chelsea must win matches. AC Milan 2 United 3
Before last night I had seen United three times in the San Siro; two losses against AC and a draw against Inter, without us scoring in any of them. And then, like London buses, three goals come along for us at once. I know the second leg is yet to be played and we are far from in the draw for the next round, but this was a huge result under enormous stress and pressure that should be milked for all it is worth. Aston Villa 1 United 1
Just as with the visit to their rivals across the city last month, this game was played after dark in freezing cold conditions. The streets were iced over, the air was bitter and just like the last visit to Birmingham, we also came back from behind to earn a draw thanks to an own goal. However, the draw does not tell a tale of woe at all, it in fact was a great night to be a Red. Read more
